What is hypnotherapy?

 

Hypnosis is a mindfulness practice that differs from other types of meditation mostly due to a difference in goal. “Meditation clears the mind to encourage the stillness.  Hypnosis is intention-based, where we explore and help the mind to play and communicate back with us via images, colors, symbols, feelings, and so much more

While in a state of hypnosis, you're more open to suggestions, which can make striking real progress and change more conceivable.  You have more direct access to your subconscious mind, which is otherwise heavily protected.  So if you’ve been resistant to a type of change—consciously or subconsciously—tapping into this state allows the therapist to help you “shift patterns, behaviors, beliefs, or how you feel,” while looking into emotional triggers.  Lena uses a visualization style of mediation, guiding the client with imagery “as a communication method.” Some people merely visualize while others “smell, taste, and feel,” since hypnosis heightens senses. "The more we connect emotions, feelings, smells, sounds, and prior positive experiences to our communication, the stronger the communication is and the quicker we can get to the desired outcome,” she says. In essence, it’s the carpool lane to creating mental, emotional, and physical changes.

The mission of Lena D’Amour Hypnotherapy® is to help you achieve your vocational and avocational self-improvement goals. During hypnotherapy, Lena uses your own words/sentiments/expressions to create a customized hypnotic script that focuses on the positive life change you want to achieve. Through hypnosis therapeutic guided imagery, and many other tools, she can help you reject and rewrite your negative self-talk and transform that chatter into positive beliefs and behaviors that enable you to live the  life you want and are meant to enjoy.

*California  law allows access by California residents complementary and alternative  health care practitioners who are not  providing services that require medical training and credentials. The purpose of a program of  hypnotherapy is for vocational and avocational self-improvement (Business and Professions Code 2908)  and as an alternative or complementary treatment to healing arts  services licensed  by the state. A hypnotherapist is not a licensed  physician or  psychologist, and hypnotherapy services are not licensed  by the state of  California. Services are non-diagnostic and do not  include the practice  of medicine, neither should they be considered a  substitute for  licensed medical or psychological services or  procedures.

In light of the current CDC recommendations to minimize risk of exposure to and spread of the COVID-19 virus, I am suspending in-person hypnotherapy sessions with me in my office. However, phone and Zoom consultations ARE and WILL REMAIN available!  

 

WHAT IS REIKI?

The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy.

Reiki is a type of energy healing. According to practitioners, energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.

Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Reiki practitioners believe that improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

Mikao Usui developed Usui Reiki Ryoho, the most current form of Reiki, in 1922. However, people have practiced Reiki for about 2,500 years. Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support healing. Reiki aids in healing by helping people become energetically balanced — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
